Diverse Cultures

Exposure to the creative expressions of diverse cultures shows us that there are other, sometimes better, ways of doing things. As a species we are perplexed trying to address global warming and sea level rise, overpopulation, and pollution. I believe that diversity is necessary to address these big problems that humanity faces today. These things can't be solved by one culture alone. Inevitably, if one culture tries to address these problems, without the help of others, disharmony happens. By that I mean conflict. This is how we got to where we are now. One culture felt more entitled than the others and allowed these problems to happen. Other cultures then felt entitled to their fair share and made them worse. Presently assemblages of diverse cultures are trying to agree on how to address these troubles. But these problems have gained momentum and reversing them will be doubly hard. It was probably not within the capability of humans to have prevented this, except perhaps for the indigenous American Indians because they seemed to have learned how to live in equilibrium with the earth. But my feelings there are based only on what little I know about them. If we, the entire human race, can seek out and promote cultural diversity, we may be able to save ourselves. I look to the contributions of diverse cultures to offer their creative expressions so that together we can find the answers to the question; how do we save humanity? By learning from those ways, we may be able to prevent future problems.
